Why should you visit RejuvenationMD for PRP hair restoration?
PRP hair therapy is a natural, non-surgical hair loss treatment that restores hair using platelets from your own blood. PRP injections have been safely used for a variety of medical purposes for over a decade.
Hair loss can be devastating for both men and women. Using PRP to combat hair loss helps hair become stronger, thicker and longer. It’s a wonderful preventative treatment that delivers amazing results. It’s so important to get this treatment as soon as you notice your hair beginning to thin, because once hair follicles die, we can’t bring them back to life.
What can be treated with PRP hair restoration?
PRP injections for hair loss restores your damaged hair follicles and combat hair loss using growth factors and proteins from the increased concentration of platelets and the compounds that affect them. At RejuvenationMD, we’re most often doing PRP hair restoration treatments to restore thinning hair and help prevent future hair loss for both men and women.
PRP hair restoration is also known to:
- Treat hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth) on the eyebrows and beard
- Restore hair lost from Alopecia Areata (hair loss from the immune system attacking follicles)
- Stimulate your hair follicles to slow the rate of hair loss
- Activate your inactive hair follicles to regrow
- Restore and add thickness to thinning hair
PRP growth factors are powerful, natural, and can treat a wide variety of concerns related to rejuvenating and restoring. Beyond hair restoration, PRP injections are known to rejuvenate the skin and heal joints.
How much does PRP hair restoration cost?
At all three of our RejuvenationMD medical spa locations in Bothell, Burlington, and Bellingham, we offer PRP hair restoration for $1,995/treatment, and we may recommend three treatments 4-6 weeks apart depending on your goals
The cost of your PRP hair restoration will depend on how many sessions you need. Most patients need multiple treatments to achieve their goal results. When you consult with us for your PRP hair restoration treatment, we’ll develop a treatment plan tailored for you.
All new patients at RejuvenationMD receive a $200 credit toward any treatment, which can be used toward PRP hair restoration.
How does PRP hair restoration work?
Plasma is the fluid in your blood that carries these platelets we describe as “liquid gold.” We separate these platelets from your red and white blood cells to create the PRP growth factor.
When the PRP is injected into your scalp, it increases blood flow to your hair follicles, lengthens the growth phase of your existing hair, and stimulates new hair growth in many patients.
What can’t be treated with PRP hair restoration?
Hair follicles which are already dead cannot be revived with PRP. This means as soon as you start to notice thinning, you should start PRP treatments to proactively strengthen these weakening hair follicles before they are untreatable without surgery.
When will I see the results of my PRP hair restoration treatment?
You should start to notice your hair becoming fuller and healthier within 4-8 months after your initial PRP injections, but we’ll most likely develop a treatment plan for you that consists of multiple sessions.
Men usually need more PRP injections for hair loss than women to get results.
How long do PRP hair restoration results last?
Results from PRP hair injections usually last about 12 to 18 months, you may enjoy your results even longer depending on the underlying condition that caused your hair loss.
Many women only need to do one treatment to get results, followed by yearly maintenance treatments. Men, on the other hand, may need at least three treatments to start seeing results before they can move toward yearly treatments to maintain those results.
At RejuvenationMD, we will thoroughly assess your thinning hair and get to the root cause of your hair loss to develop a personalized treatment plan that’s best for your needs.
What is a PRP hair restoration treatment like?
We start by drawing your blood and concentrating it in a centrifuge to separate the enhanced cells with growth factors, known as the platelet rich plasma, from the red blood cells. This concentration process takes about 10 minutes.
Once the platelets are separated from the rest of your blood, we’ll numb your treatment areas with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment.
Next, we’ll inject the PRP into the area of your scalp, eyebrows, or beard, depending on where your hair is thinning.
After the PRP injections, we do a microneedling treatment to return your remaining plasma into the treatment area to enhance the results. The entire treatment takes about 90 minutes to do.
We’ll send you home with a special laser cap, serum, and a special shampoo to ensure the injected area heals properly.
Does PRP for hair loss actually work?
Many of our patients see worthwhile results from their PRP hair restoration treatments, while paying significantly less than they would need to for hair transplant surgery.
89% of patients on RealSelf rate PRP injections for hair loss as “worth it.”
The success of PRP injections for restoring your hair depends on a long list of factors, including but not limited to:
- Gender
- Age
- Genes
- Hormones
- The cause of your hair loss
- The amount of hair you had to begin with
In 2019, a review of PRP hair loss studies found that both men and women saw results in increased hair thickness, and regrowth.
According to a 2015 clinical study, the patients given the treatment showed improvements in hair counts, thickness, and root strength after three months.
If you’re completely bald, you’ll need a surgical hair restoration procedure to try to grow your hair back.
Does PRP hair restoration treatment hurt?
Any discomfort from PRP injections is temporary and should be minimal since we apply numbing cream prior to treatment and use our Zimmer cooling machine that chills the area to help ease pain. The amazing results make this treatment beyond worth the slight, short-term discomfort. We also offer Pro-Nox™ if you need an extra level of comfort.
How do I prepare for a PRP hair restoration treatment?
During your PRP hair restoration consultation, one of our PRP specialists will ask you questions to figure out what caused your hair to thin.
We’ll also look at your scalp and possibly order blood work to check for thyroid issues and vitamin deficiencies. We take these steps so we’re able to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
We’ll also give you special shampoo to use before arriving at our office for your PRP hair therapy appointment.
What are the possible side effects of PRP hair restoration?
PRP injections are a safe and minimally invasive alternative to hair transplant surgery.
- Side effects are minimal, but may include:
- Mild pain, temporary redness on the treated areas
- Temporary pinpoint bleeding on the injected areas
- A headache for up to a day afterward
- Minor swelling for a few days
Serious complications from PRP for hair loss are very rare, yet can include blocked blood vessels (vascular occlusion), leading to vision loss and possibly stroke.
We follow strict protocols here at RejuvenationMD to learn your entire medical history and learn if you’re at risk for vascular occlusion before recommending any type of injection.
Am I a candidate for PRP hair restoration?
Anyone with thinning hair on their scalp, eyebrows, or beards, may see improvements in thickness and overall hair health from PRP injections.
It takes more sessions for men to see results, but our male patients here at RejuvenationMD consider the multiple sessions they had totally worth the results they’ve achieved.
If you are totally bald and your hair follicles have died, PRP cannot regrow your hair. You’ll likely need a surgical hair transplant to see a full head of hair again.
Is there any downtime needed after a PRP hair restoration treatment?
There’s no downtime following PRP injections for hair loss, but you’ll likely have some temporary tenderness. Some patients feel like their hair is shedding at the 2-4 week mark after their appointment, but this is just your hair follicles resetting and will naturally resolve on its own within a couple of weeks.
To avoid disturbing your healing and messing up your results, we recommend that you:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days after your treatment
- Steer clear of using any hair products for the first 6-8 hours
- Use only pH-balanced shampoo for the first few days
- Do not shower with hot water immediately after your procedure

“A lot of people take for granted how they can just pull their hair back. My hair was too thin to do that until I had PRP Hair Restoration treatments from RejuvenationMD. They literally changed my life. I am always grateful each time I get to pull my hair back without worrying.”
